Very funny and quite interesting as well but I am looking forward to the full book.I don't much enjoy reading just fragments. I am too curious and want the whole thing. :)

I'm confused about how I feel about this one. If it is part of a larger work, than some aspects of it make sense. Why it is extremely funny in places, at times I found myself saying, "get on with it".

Yet, there are a great many rules. Many was that alot of work.

I have been fascinated with the world of concubines and courtesans in the far east since reading Memoirs of a Geisha, and this doesn't disappoint.

Written as if the reader were the young courtesan-t0-be, the narrator takes you through a step by step guide on how you will be introduced to some of China's most influential businessmen and political figures and how to advance your career and avoid some of the pitfalls she suffered in her time.

A very short book which can easily be read in a couple of hours.

Listened on audiobook. Short and weird.

I really liked the story, but it ended abruptly and I wish I could have heard from other voices surrounding the storyteller.

I'm shocked how much I enjoyed this book. It reminded me of "Memoirs of a Geisha". I wish it went much longer and was an entire book. Its told in the way of an older woman instructing a younger lady in a high class brothel way back in china. The woman is telling the younger lady all her trade secrets of the business to help her start out. Its a pretty interesting read. Very quick read as well.

I was a little leery of this topic. I thought it was going to be something that was overly sensationalized. It's not. It's wonderfully written and quite an interesting look into the life of the courtesan. I would definitely recommend this story for the over 18 crowd.

This was actually an interesting look into courtesan life in the early 20th century. I don't know a lot about that part of history or even the history of that part of the world, so it was quite intriguing! This is only an extract of a book that was later released, which I might pick up now that I've read this.
