I really enjoyed this book, and it would have gotten 5 stars if it had some stronger character development. One of the plotlines was just underdeveloped or simply unnecessary. Otherwise, a captivating read.

There were parts of this novel that were brilliantly done and other sections that seemed to drag on or lose some focus. I think this would have been stronger if it did not have non-linear components.

I love an historical fiction story written in multiple timelines, but I felt like this one tried to go in too many directions and it sacrificed some character development to do so. It was sooooooo close to being really great, but instead it was pretty good.
