Absolutely devastating account of Emmett Till's murder and the acquittals of his murderers. Places the horrible events firmly in context of Mississippi, the US, and the world. Should be required reading for American history classes.

A well-told history of a crime that has become more myth than history. Tyson does a great job of recounting the courtroom drama without allowing the story to become sensationalized. The humanity remains throughout.

Somewhere between the fact we know and the anxiety we feel is the reality we live. ~ Timothy B. Tyson
