I didn't finish it. I think this is litrpg for people new to the genre. If you have read a lot in the genre it's just more of the same. Nothing really new, no new twists.

The audiobook was performed very well by the voice actor. I had a lot of fun listening to this.

R. R. Virdi handled the limits of the video game fantasy genre really well. I expected the role-playing elements to be filled with convenient plot devices and that it would become repetitive to the point of distraction. I also feared that the set up would take forever and be full of exposition. The information that created the world of the novel came incrementally and in a similar way that an RPG game is set up but it felt more organic. The dialogue was good and flowed naturally. The pacing of the story was fantastic. Upon first listen I didn't find any inconsistencies in the magic or virtual world that made for any easy escapes for the characters. Every decision had consequences and never broke the limits or constraints the author placed on the world or its characters. The character development in the novel was also very good. I do wish some of the side characters had been a little more developed but that could come in the future. The novel ends with a few unanswered questions which make me want to read book two. If I could choose how to develop this IP I'd love to see it as an anime.
