I honestly don’t know what kind of voodoo magic was in this but I freaking loved every minute of it. I went into Sunshine blind, and even though it was a roller coaster of emotions that I was not in the slightest prepared for I have absolutely zero regrets. I almost don’t even know how to describe how Sunshine made me feel other than to simply say: read it – please, please, please.
The slowburn, the tension, the angst and the heartbreak was everything I could have ever asked for. It hurt so good, broke my heart, but it also put me back together again.
The dual timeline was divine and just perfectly executed. It brought so much depth to the different relationships. And I really treasured the emotional journey that both Layla and Wells experienced. But I think my most favorite part was watching Layla grow in her grief and come into herself fully as she found her purpose, her place and her home.
I love Michaela’s writing, and she just has a way of capturing Wells so exquisitely that dare I say you don’t need his POV to understand his feelings and motivations. You are gifted all that from Layla’s POV. Plus, to be completely honest, chapters from Wells’ POV would probably also kill me.
I loved how I couldn’t put the book down, I was fully immersed in the small town of Saddlebrook Falls and I cannot wait to go back. I have a feeling those four other Bennett boys will be just as scrumptious.

Wells, I am utterly and pathetically in love with him. I wish he was real holy hell. I knew the whole time that Wells was not going to be the guy he was portrayed to be, that he loved Layla fiercely and tragically. The minute it was brought up that she fainted on the field I knew Wells was the one that carried her out not Jason and it made my heart cry. I loved Layla as a FMC, she was independent and always knew what she wanted outside of her relationship which a lot of girls struggle with. I wish she had seen Jason for who he really was while he was alive but I’m glad she figured it out in the end, he may have loved her but not correctly. The grieving in this book was believable and heartbreaking regardless of the circumstances. I love how Wells and Layla’s love came to be, it was real and raw but they were always honest with each other. His nickname for her and the reasoning killed me and I love that it’s also the title of the book. This book was amazing and I couldn’t put it down. I cannot wait for the rest of the series!
Thank you for the ARC Michaela! Overall I rated it 4.5/5 ⭐️

THIS BOOK HAS CRACK IN IT!!!! It was so much more than a cute small town romance novel. My heart was ripped apart and then put back together. Wells and Layla are soulmates and no matter what happened they still would have found their way together. Also the cliffhanger at the end?!??? I cannot wait for book 2

I’m still a bit unsure about Wells and Layla’s connection, but it was a good story. Kinda felt like a lot of loose ends, but I think that may be for setting up a series? Overall, I did enjoy it
