This may be not my most favorite works of Courtney Summers (Sadie #1 forever), but still, it gave me the same kind of heebie-jeebies while reading. Feels like the cult member breathing down my neck every time I open the pages :(

I considered putting this book down several times while reading. Whenever I would read, I would feel so tense and uncomfortable. Not because I wasn't enjoying it, but because I was so uncomfortable about what was happening.
The fact that I listen to a lot of podcasts about cults (Cult podcast, Cult liter, etc.), made me see a lot of the red flags from the beginning. And I knew it was going to get progressively worse as the book went on.
But I did enjoy the book, even if it got to me more emotionally and mentally.

Solid cult-centered book, but it was pretty boring and sloggish during the majority of it. I still definitely prefer the beauty that is "Sadie" over this one. Also, there were some choices made in this book that made no sense to me (I know trauma manifests in different ways) and they felt out -of-the-blue and rushed. If you're intrigued by NXIVM, you might really enjoy this. It has the similar vibes of something-just-isn't-right-but-not-outright-bad-on-the-outside...

I just could not finish this book. It was a slog. I couldn't tell the two sisters apart and I also hated Levi (? Is that his name, idk?). I wish it had gotten into why the one sister joined the cult. What exactly did it offer, besides vaguely religious speeches by the "hot" leader guy. Idk, I had higher hopes for this book and was sorely disappointed
