It was okay but definitely not one of my favorites.

I just couldn’t finish it. It was a very long book with details that didn’t matter. Well maybe they did by the end of the book but I wouldn’t know. I DNF halfway through. Just didn’t like it.

While I like the characters, the "oh, yes, I need to tell you what happened before" style throughout the book is clunky and distracting. It is annoying when kids do it at dinner; inexcusable if there is an editor involved.

Really enjoyed this one.
I liked the change up to the DC location.

Love the White House aspect to this mystery. Good story!

Generally, I really like the overall stories in each of these books. But my goodness, there isn't any character that I really like a whole lot. Clare is way too nosy, even beyond her sleuthing. For example, there was another cop helping out Quinn & her due to her feeling like she owed Quinn a favor. Clare basically demanded that the cop tell her what Quinn did to help her. It's none of her business! & if she really needs to know, ask Quinn!
Also, Quinn & Clare are always saying how much they trust each other but they clearly don't. They can barely talk to anyone else of the opposite gender without the other questioning them. & Clare even went through Quinn's phone (just because he came over a day early & that's clearly suspicious, if I remember correctly)! & he purposely left it unlocked so she could! So ridiculous

Another enjoyable installment, though the "magic coffee" was a bit of a stretch. Hm.

I do love me a good cozy mystery, especially the food kind. I’ve been reading this series since it began: the stories are hit or miss, and sometimes Clare is annoying, but the recipes at the back are always terrific.
I like reading this series whenever I need a breather from my hard core thrillers.
