You can tell it’s written by a previous generation and are people who are used to being in charge. Seems like a parable most relevant to people later in their career who are stuck in their ways, not younger people in the 21st century who are used to upheaval.

Everyone in my company was given a copy of this book. I'm not sure it merits that much attention, but I am glad I read it. (It's a VERY quick read.) Above all, I like the idea of asking yourself -- when faced with a situation that puts you outside your comfort zone -- what would I do if I weren't afraid? It's a simple mental tool that might help deal with change.

I also like the idea of routinely stopping to think about changes that might be coming, so you aren't taken by surprise when they (or similar changes) do come. The book focuses on change in a workplace/career setting, but it makes it clear that the same ideas apply to personal life and relationships. One type of change that occurred to me as I was reading this book is change due to aging. It's a fairly predictable change, yet many people try to ignore aging, pretending to be younger than they are and feeling that it's unfair that we grow old. Fair or not, it happens. If you know change is coming, be ready to find new sources of satisfaction, because some of your current ones will likely vanish.

Typical of this type of business philosophy book. Trite and unhelpful, the book fails to grasp the perspective of the employee with any real insight.
