Still have yet to read the last little bit at the end, but “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from Magyk.”, is a bit much, honestly, but I suppose answers some questions I had about how the Dragon Boat could be in a temple built in the Roman style. Overall, very happy to have finished this series, after so many years.

This was a nice end to the series, though it appears we may see some of the characters in her new series.

Ahhh what a journey. I truly truly enjoyed it!
In this final chapter of the Septimus Heap series, we have much happening. Beetle is now the Chief Hermetic Scribe and plans are in motion for Jenna's coronation. Septimus is beginning his month as an alchemy apprentice, and Marcia Overstrand is planning to destroy the Two-Faced Ring to rid the castle of the remaining Darke Magyk from the Darke Domaine.
In this book, we have all of our favorite characters and even some that aren't our favorites. We also see many open storylines finally closed up, with questions being answered - including some questions that I didn't think would be answered. When faced with the choice of whether he will remain a wizard apprentice or become an alchemy apprentice, Septimus finds that the choice is not quite as easy as he thought it would be.
I really liked how the different storylines were cleaned up in this book, though as I got closer to the end, I found myself hoping the story would just keep going. I have so loved these characters that I will miss them now that the series is over. That said, I definitely liked how this book - and the series - ended.
Now that I have finished the series, I already want to start it over again. That feeling, more than anything else, is the best way to illustrate just how good this series is. I am also looking forward to beginning the Pathfinder series, not only because it is a new story, but also because I will get to see some of my favorite characters when they are older. I don't know which characters - I'll have to read/listen to that series to find out - but not knowing is half the fun.
If you haven't begun this series, I highly recommend it. I also highly recommend listening to the audiobook. Allen Corduner (Magyk) and Gerard Doyle (the rest of the series) did an absolutely wonderful job - so wonderful that I will be adding the series to my audiobook library.
