Final verdict: This series does not vibrate on my wavelength. In theory, I'd like to say that I'll be picking up the remaining books in the series, but realistically, I don't know if I will be able to motivate myself to actually do so. Getting through these books was like pulling teeth, and it's not the book's fault. Weirdest reading experience ever.

Not sure I made it to the end of this last time I read it. It dealt with some really heavy stuff that was probably way over my head at the time. There are some big philosophy and metaphysics themes going on, but it's still a functional fantasy story with real characters at the core. As long as the characters have life and growth and good interactions you can get as allegorical as you like with them.

I'm excited to get to the remaining books of Earthsea that I've never actually read.

This was another hard read for me. The story was fine and the characters were fine but there was nothing captivating about it. Most of the book is just days and nights passing in a small boat (or so it felt to me). Skimmed the last 50 pages because I just couldn’t handle how little happened in so many pages. I think I’ll pass on Le Guin books for awhile, particularly the Earthsea series.
