So close to perfect, only not as good as Tombs of Atuan or Tehanu. Lebannen forever and ever and ever though.

Without having read part 4 (yet), this book beautifully concludes the magnificent Earthsea cycle.
adventurous lighthearted medium-paced

I enjoyed the parts in the shadow realm but the rest was a bit generic and slow to me.

For me the 2nd half of the book is more interesting than the first. There seems to be a lack of direction in the first half of the book and I'm unsure if that is intentional. It made it difficult to get through.

It has the same Earthsea touch as the previous two, but the new character Arren provides a new perspective as someone who cares deeply about legends and lore. This is contrasted to the previous stories where Sparrowhawk was being introduced to magic and Tenar who doubts what she is told.

3.5 ⭐️ an intriguing meditation on immortality, death, and the merits of mortality
