I love this! I definitely enjoyed it more than Scarlet. It was fantastic! I love Cress and Kai and everyone! It was brilliant and I can’t wait to read the next book.

Each book just gets better and better!
This book had everything needed to continue the series. It was funny, lighthearted, emotional, yet still adventurous and inspiring.
I absolutely love Thorne, he reminds me of Prince Naveen (though this is a Rapunzel retelling lol)
Kai and Cinders expansion has been so slow but beautifully done
Scarlet and Wolf, my loves.
Dr. Erland, Jacin, Cress, Winter even Levana love them all.

Cress is a Rapunzel retelling and sees an avid hacker and Lunar “shell” join our merry band of misfits.
It’s like Marissa Meyer took everything I hated about Scarlet and wrote a book that’s actually good! We swap out the boring and unlikeable protagonist for a sweet and endearing cinnamon roll. And lemme tell you, it makes such a difference to my enjoyment of a book when I actually like the main character!
While Scarlet’s book was a tough slog, Cress had me hooked from the first page. Sure she’s a sweet, naive, hopeless romantic damsel in distress, but she’s unintentionally hilarious, tenacious, and a talented hacker. We also get a will-they-wont-they ship that I am prepared to go down with, while Scarlet and Wolf’s boring af relationship fades into the background.
As for the story, SO MUCH HAPPENS! We get political intrigue, explosions, hostages, spacecraft, gun fights and espionage, and Cress’ story manages to drive the plot forward as well as expanding the Lunar Chronicles universe. Geographically we get to visit Africa and outer space, but we also get to learn more about Lunars, shells, and the plague. We also see some seriously nasty shit on Levana’s part, and for the first time it’s clear that she’s really not playing around.
Disability was a strong theme throughout this novel, with the ever-present discussion of cyborg rights as well as. While the discussion wasn’t overly nuanced, I appreciated that Kai’s actions and public statements on cyborgs served as an allegory for both race and disability. And while I would’ve liked more nuance to Thorne’s experience, it was interesting to watch him deal with this sudden injury - especially being one that we don’t often see in YA!
Overall: The difference between Scarlet and Cress is like going from watching paint dry to watching a Steven Spielberg action film! This was such a marked improvement on Book 2 I can’t even tell you, and has me hella geared up for the series finale. Please protect my bbs Cinder and Cress at all costs ;___;

This book lost my interests at some times and then picked it back up again. I like this series but the first one is elite. Have always wondered Cress and Thorns age different because he seems like 27 and she seems like 17.

A bit overdramatic at times, but overall the characters were developed really well and the story was good.
