another sweet abby jimenez book! probably my least favorite of hers (but still 4 stars) because i found it a bit cheesier with more cliches than the others, but her books will always have me kicking my lil rom com loving feet

This was a cute story but didn't hold my interest as much as Just for the Summer. The main character was a bit weak but gained confidence, albeit very slowly.

I really enjoyed this book and I wasn’t expecting to.  After hearing the audiobook clip of the ring light scene on TikTok I finally listened to this and then had to get a physical copy as well.  The humor was so funny, the relationship was cute, and there was such a wholesome small town vibe.

While some friends were toxic and parents that should have never had kids (the FMC’s parents), and a past relationship was down right abusive, all of which to say this wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows with smut sprinkled in there for good measure.  There was healing and the FMC and MMC finding their worth in different ways.  And plus there was a cute dog; Hunter is the best… even if he did bring an alive squirrel to brunch.

4.5

What a punch in the heart LMAO. I literally teared up in the Epilogue.

This book definitely doesn't read as your classic rom. I was hesitant at first because I normally eat up slow burns... I'm talking < I don't want a single smooch until we're 95% done > type of vibes. SO , when this book breezed past our main characters first night meeting, I was a little nervy and a TAD judgmental (I'm sorry!!!!)

HOWEVER, Ms. Jimenez CAME AT ME with the emotional turmoil. This book read like a deep dive into a real relationship vs. your classic rom com build up with a third act conflict.

Daniel go f urself you perfect fkn-ing man.
