Winter is a good finale to the series, and it's satisfying to see all the storylines wind together. It's definitely plot-focused, but the characters are entertaining and well-rounded. It's also fun to see how Meyer uses the original fairy tale to inspire her novel.

I find myself let down quite often by the ending of a series if I feel the stories weren’t concluded well or if I have too many questions left unanswered, but this book pleasantly surprised me. I felt like it was an excellent wrap up for all the characters and I am very happy I stuck it out to the end even after my first impression of the series. There was just enough danger that it kept me engaged through the majority of the story and I didn’t feel like getting through it was a chore even though this book is over 800 pages long. I was very pretty shocked about how graphic the violence got but I feel like it did a good job showing how brutal war is and the toll it took on the characters which is something I find many other books tend to gloss over especially in the YA genre. I also liked how things weren’t just immediately "perfect" for the characters at the end, you finish knowing that the characters would have a lot more to get through and I feel like that type of ending is very natural and satisfactory.
One thing I did note while reading, is this book is the most inclusive in the series when it comes to the fairytale crossover that takes place in each book prior. Although I’m not a huge fan of Snow White as a story, Winter included a lot more of it’s classic compared to the others in the series. While I did enjoy it, I do feel like it was a tad too much and part of that storyline was almost completely unnecessary and just made the book drag on. The ending would have been the same without the 10+ chapters the characters spent dealing with this issue. This book easily could have been a 5 star read for me if it wasn’t for the little details like that, and by the end I still feel like there were too many plot holes and a few poorly executed storylines that just weren’t redeemed by all the good this book did. With that being said, I do still think this was a very strong ending to the story and I will truly miss reading about these characters now that I have finished, but I can definitely see myself coming back and rereading this series in the future.

I love this series so much. There's just no way I would ever give this book anything less than 5 stars. It's not my favourite book in the series, and it's definitely not a perfect book, but I love it so much. It's the perfect bittersweet ending to this series that take you on such an incredible journey! The plot is exciting, we have a new fairytale to piece together, the characters have some great moments together, and everything comes full circle in the end.
Winter is such a fun character, but I have to say I was disappointed by her lack of agency. Out of all the four main girls in the series, she does barely anything to progress the story. I love how the Snow White story comes into play, complicating her relationship with Levana and Jacin - it’s super intriguing. I kept feeling like Winter didn’t have any personality aside from being “crazy." Friends to lovers is my absolute favourite trope and Jacin and Winter have some of the best moments together. I wish we had these characters earlier in the series (or at least got more of their backstory), just for more of their romantic interactions. They have such a fun dynamic - Winter totally openly loving Jacin while he's doing everything he can to withhold his affection. It's so sweet how Jacin is always the only one who can pull Winter out of her hallucinations. And it's cute how Jacin doesn't exactly believe everything Winter says, but always plays along. It's unfair that they only really get introduced in the last book (I know Jacin is in the last book, I mean as a romantic relationship) and then they are separated for a good chunk of the book :(
This is the book in the series that I had the least memory of during my reread, probably due to it being very long, there’s more characters and a lot more plot lines intersecting. With all the characters as well, it gets a little hard to keep track of everyone: where they are and what they’re doing, since it becomes rare for the whole crew to be all together at the same time.
My main complaint, I guess would be that it's a bit of a slow start. I mean, revolution's take a lot of planning and preparation, and they sure did a lot of that at the beginning of the book. It wasn't boring necessarily, it just takes a little while to lift off its feet. Which feels extra long since this book is a beast!
It's really cool that this book is mostly set on the moon.
Marissa Meyer is so good at creating all these little moments for the characters and by far my favourite in this book is the missing fingers club. I love that wholeheartedly
I know a lot of people complain about this, but personally I love how the ending is so perfect and cliche and everything is all wrapped up in a bow. It’s fun to have a moment at the end of the book where all the characters have these dramatic love confessions and there’s no more loose ends in the plot. Although I do wish it wasn’t as much “everyone gets together at the end” and at least one couple was more steady throughout the series, just for some variety.
