The Crimson Moth follows Rune, a vigilante working to smuggle witches to freedom, and Gideon a ruthless witch hunter. The two enter a fake courtship, each trying to uncover the other's secrets, only to find they may have more in common than they first thought.
This was a great YA fantasy! I really liked the dynamic between Rune and Gideon as they tried to outsmart and intimate each other. Seeing them slowly reveal more of themselves was really sweet and despite their differences, they work well together. The world building and magic was well developed but I think it could have gone a little deeper at times. I thought the last 100 or so pages were so fast paced and action packed which I loved. It was a little predictable at times but that didn't take away from my enjoyment at all.
Definitely wanting to carry on with the series after that ending!

Really enjoyable. A good enemies to lovers (back to enemies ) and both main characters felt believable with their conflicting aims. I liked the world and the magic system too and I'm interested to see what happens next. I could have done without Alex's death because I feel like it makes things too easy for the main characters.

Wish I could rate this 4.85 cause it was so close. Heartless Hunter is a brilliant take on witch trials in this fantasy world where people and witches are at odds with one another. All the characters are lovely and believable, it poses a lot of moral questions as far as what is justified and what is excessive. Rune’s clever way of acquiring her blood for magic is so interesting. I thought I would be grossed out but it just makes so much sense. The only reason this isn’t a 5 stars for me was that, after evading the Blood Guard for so long, I thought Rune would be a little more thoughtful and careful in her actions. Especially with being so close to the Captain. I can’t wait to read the sequel and find out how this ends.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What happens when you take a badass witchy FMC, one brother who has been in love with her forever and the other who would do anything to end her life?
The Crimson Moth has immaculate regency-esque vibes that throw your straight into the plot from the first page. I loved the characters in this book, the story itself was exciting and fast paced and the world was immersive. The only thing stopping this from being a five star book was a little bit of predictability at the end, I saw the twist coming a mile off. However, I’m picking the sequel up straight away because I’m invested in what happens next!
