I feel kind of bad panning this, because the author's note at the end is so poignant and sweet. I wish he had written the book he's talking about there. I loved the premise of it, but I hated where he went with it. Really uninteresting and heavy handed, and I could have stopped reading at any point and never wondered what I missed.

I really wanted to like this book. I wanted to love it. I just couldn’t get into it. It seemed to drag on.

Interesting. A bit creepy. Great central characters. Very cinematic — but I do not recommend. Hell of a Book is *much* better, which makes sense!

This was... weird

It's obvious that Jason Mott is a poet. His book is lyrical, the way he sets up his scenes is masterful. But the story feels empty, filled with pretty words and not enough substance. It's an interesting plot but too similar to the French's "They Came Back" to be considered wholly original.

Mediocre. Not badly written and not a bad plot just awful pacing and focus. Meh. Found the Author's Note to be the most moving and well captured portion of the book.

Everyone's been talking about this book and it sounded really intriguing. But while the plot concept was indeed very intriguing, I felt that the story dragged sometimes. There was a lot of sitting around and waiting for things to happen and it wasn't until the end that things started to get moving.

DNF, usually if I start a book & find I'm not enjoying it, I just remove it. But I got 3/4 of the way thru before I gave up on this highly unlikely somewhat disturbing story of a small NC town suddenly being populated by people who already died. I decided I didn't need to know the ending, it would probably not be to my liking.
