This book was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed the world the author created, both because I liked the characters, and because it was surprisingly funny! I honestly laughed out loud through most of this book. But don't think that was at the expense of plot, because the story was solid. As the story approached the end, the pace became almost frantic, and I was up waaaaay too late last night finishing it, because I couldn't put it down.

I hope we still get commentary from Hell in the next book of the series...

Overall: Funny book that was quite enjoyable. Had a few faults, but they didn't take away from the story.

Good: This book was quite enjoyable despite some of its faults. I was happy to find an urban fantasy book that wasn't the "magical detective" that they all seem to be. The characters were hilarious and had strong personalities. My favorite characters were HELL and Austin (the cat). The author did a good job with a nice tight plot. She did a few clever things that pleased me. I frequently found myself thinking about the book and how I wish I reading it.

Bad: While I liked the characters, I felt like they were too stereotypical and dean was over killed with his "niceness". There was somewhat of a love triangle, but it was unusual. It was more of a "I'm lonely and horny and Jacques is here, but I also having feelings for Dean". So not too bad. The humor for the first 50 or so pages felt a bit forced.

A nice intro to Claire Hansen and Austin, the Keeper's cat. Austin kicks rear tuckus. The Keeper series is packed with action, adventure and a good dose of humor. Really wish there had been more in the series.

I enjoyed it but not enough to finish it properly, I 'skimmed' the last %40 of the audiobook because I lost interest

I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, I really liked the author's writing (she had some really great turns of phrase). On the other hand, I found Jacques obnoxious, not charming, so the whole love triangle plot line left me cold. But I loved sulky, talking to itself, Hell. He/it was probably my favorite character in the book.

I was also dissatisfied with the ending. Claire spends the entire book being drawn to Jacques' personality, and basically only liking Dean because of his body. The fact that she is drawn to the idea of Jacques posessing Dean tells you how much she values him as a person. But then suddenly at the end it was just that she was agist, and she really did want to be with Dean? I don't buy it.

Claire: Ellen Page
Jacques: Orlando Bloom (why can I so easily picture him playing a smarmy guy with a French accent?)
Dean: Jared Padalecki.
Austin: the cat from Sabrina, The Teenage Witch.

This was a really fun book. I laughed out loud a few times, especially at Hell's dialogue with itself.
