You’d think that after fifteen 500+ page books his material would get boring… it doesn’t!

‘Until the End’ pulls together all of the loose ends from this trilogy into a gripping finale reminiscent of ‘The Dying of The Light’.

There was so much in “Until the End” yet somethings is left to be desired.

I have read skulduggery pleasant since fourth grade and every books since then I have rated either 5 or 4 stars but not this one and it pains me. I feel like it missed so many emotional elements that would have expanded Valkiyre journey throughout the book. For example when she finally “came back” from worshiping the faceless ones I would have love something more then “I am fine let’s kick some ass”, I would have loved to be shown how she was struggling with guilt or killing the faceless ones after loving them for a long time. I understand she is getting more powerful and I love that for her but I think that getting physical stronger doesn’t equal less turmoil.

There was also a LOT of different plots in this book. Good stories that would have really been interesting if they got a chance to expand but I think it just got too much and messy but that being said i LOVED the plot twist around Sebastian Tao. Speaking of “messy” the characterisation of some characters aka China Sorrows or the Darklys parents could have been better. I don’t know if it was just me but their characters felt “forced” sometimes. I’m thinking of two moments in total the first being how the Darklys felt remorse how they have treated their sons, i felt like that came from nowhere?? Just me?? Second is how China helped cadaver cain with the bomb and then just a few pages later she regrets it?? I feel like i missed something. :/

One last thing and I know not everybody wants this but I am a sucker for a bittersweet ending. Not everyone has to have a happy ending.

Phase two ends on such a high note!!! Can't wait to see where it goes from here.
