This was a very emotional poetry collection. I could feel the grief that inspired these poems. However, I do feel I am very out of practice with reading poetry. Some of the poems had me lost, but I do not think that it is fair of me to knock the book for that.

Beautifully written (as expected from Ocean Vuong), but many of the poems were difficult to understand and incoherent. I appreciate artistic interpretation and how personal they were, but many of them felt like random words jumbled together. The ones that had clearer direction, though, were beautiful and masterpieces.

Niet alles vond ik goed en niet alles begreep ik. Maar wat mooi was, was heel mooi. Rauw, eerlijk, one-liners en innemend.
