Hands down the best book of the Salvation series so far.

I’ve read the first 5 books back to back and can honestly say it has made the experience so much more enjoyable. With all the character crossovers and intertwining storylines.

Until these books, I’d never come across Corinne Michaels before. They came up as suggested books on Audible and I’m so glad I chose to read them. I have to say, I am now a big fan and look forward to reading the last 2 books in the salvation series, and then sinking my teeth into her other works.

Finally Mark's story!! Mark has had his hand in every HEA that have happened to his teammates. Love has been for them but never for him - that is until the secretive CIA operative Charlie gets under his skin and becomes someone he cannot get out of his head. But two head strong individuals do not make for a simple love story but in fact add up to a storyline that will have the reader laughing out loud, sighing with happiness and so angry they will want to throw their kindle. But in the end Corinne Michaels once again gives the reader everything they could ever have hoped for.

The wait is finally over! It's now time for Mark 'Twilight' Dixon's story.

Ever since Mark said “Hey Muffin,” way back in Beloved, I've wanted to know more about the man who works alongside Jackson “Muffin” Cole; with his blond hair and tattooed arms…He is the definition of alpha male, but it's his humour that makes him so irresistible! His arrogance is clearly on show...or is that over confidence. She wants me, not that I can blame her – I'm a catch.

Charlie Erickson is a woman living in a man's world. Groomed by her father, she followed in his footsteps to become a CIA agent. Her work is her life, especially now that her father is dead. She wants to find out how was responsible for his death. The desire to seek justice a constant in her life.

What surprised me the most was how quickly Mark fell for Charlie, once they took their relationship to the next level, but then in some ways it isn't really surprising. He and Charlie both secretly want what they see as unobtainable...an opportunity to have a normal relationship and life. The similarities between the two of them make them perfect for each other, but Mark really has to work hard, turn on the charm to convince Charlie that the two of them together makes perfect sense.

The writer again manages to wrings out every emotion from her protagonists so that we the readers clearly understand what they're thinking and feeling. The chemistry between Mark and Charlie is undeniable; Mark needed a strong woman to keep him in check and Charlie more than meets that requirement! The plot is fast paced, twist ridden and surprisingly suspenseful. The fun and humorous banter is entertaining.

Defenseless can be read as a standalone and is without a shadow of a doubt my favourite book in the Salvation series. Romantic suspense is my favourite genre and this book hits the spot 100%.

I loved Mark from the moment I met him. He was comedic relief but at the same time so multifaceted because he had a serious and hidden vulnerable side that I loved getting to see. All it took was that special woman.
Speaking of special woman, then came Charlie. Omg, Charlie was so bad ass. She could get down with best of them and do not let her pretty face fool you ok. She defined the term dangerous woman. I love the battle of wills these two played with each other! The way they had to best each other at every turn, that sexually charged banter...it all made for some deliciously hot scenes! But, of course it wouldn’t be Corinne Michaels if it didn’t have a little angst to tear at your heart just a bit. I loved every minute and I’m so glad we got Mark’s story because he definitely deserved his hea.

This is book 5 in the Salvation Series and I read it via audio.

Mark and Charlie met when a former SEAL was rescued.

Charlie (real name hidden to protect her identity) works as a CIA operative. Mark works at Cole Security as a former SEAL. They team up to better understand what happened to one of Mark’s former team mates and friends. Charlie has to learn to trust someone besides herself which is hard after her years of training.

The suspense of this book carries over from the previous books. And finally one that doesn’t end in a cliffhanger (but I loved all the cliffhangers so it wasn’t all that bad

I love Marks personality and have been waiting for his book and his turn to come. The story ended too fast for me and not a lot of action on Marks end. He fell fast and hard for Charlie without much effort. These books are free on audible till 10/14 so don’t wait, run and listen to these great romances.

I didn't think Corinne Michaels could give me someone I love more than Liam but Mark Dixon is my new favorite. The last 30-40℅ of this was amazing!

Dnf. I can’t pinpoint what it is about Corinne Michaels that I don’t like, but I’ve read 4 1/2 books by her and I just. Don’t. Get. It. Why do people like these books so much!? I find her stories soap opera dramatic and cringeworthy at times. I understand the tone she’s going for, but it just misses the mark for me. I tried to get through this book but just couldn’t make myself do it. Life is too short to force yourself to read a book you don’t like.
