A classic for a reason, I found Dracula to be an entertaining read that can be either plagued with deep meaning and interesting metaphors for those interested in Freud and feminism or a light read for those who are just looking for a horror novel.
Very well written, my main complaint is not even a fault of the novel: a lot of what Stoker utilizes is the element of the mystery involving what is the monster the main characters are dealing with. However, since Dracula has become such a staple character in our century, nothing that happened was a surprise, and what astonished the characters was not a novel to me. Regardless, is still a good read, and an interesting one at that.

I did find myself feeling nervous turning out the light after reading Dracula. Perhaps my childhood obsession/revulsion toward vampires has something to do with that. Still a good book and a must-read for any vampire fans.

I think I am just going to reread this every year or so. Just as good, if not better, upon rereading.

(For some reason I can't find the edition I actually listening to, which was read by Simon Vance)
As a horror fan I'm ashamed that I just now got around to reading this. It honestly wasn't as good as I was expecting. I found Harker's quick suspicion of the Count a bit unrealistic as well as everyone else's blind following of Van Helsing. (Don't even get me started on multiple characters being named John/Jonathan). I did appreciate the narrator's different voices he did for all of the characters, it helped keep the constantly changing perspectives in order.
