Finally read a manga this year. I chose boruto. I've tried to watch the show and it just hasn't gone well. So I decided to read it. I found more info in the manga which I enjoyed.

4/5 Stars (%74/100)

Boruto, if not obvious from its title, is the son of Naruto. The story revolves around Boruto and his friends at the new Konoha. The world is in peace and the new generation takes over from Naruto's generation. Naruto is the Hokage and Boruto is not too happy about it.

I've grown fond of Boruto (both as a character and manga) even though I was hesitant at first. Naruto holds a very special place in my heart and at first, Boruto did not meet my expectations. However, in the last couple of chapters of the manga, I realized I have to look at Boruto as something different. I obviously suggest you to finish Naruto first but even if you don't I don't think you'll have too many problems.

There is... so much I want to bitch about. I’ll focus on the worst bits, since I know this story has been picked to death.

First of all, the story is missing the spirit of Naruto which makes me too bored to even keep reading past this one: where is the hard work? Boruto is a fucking BRAT who thinks having a dad who’s busy is worse than not having a father at all. If he could go back like us and read his father’s struggles he’d be fucking grateful that his dad loves him as much as he does, and is trying his best. It’s not like Naruto has any good parental figures— who would be? Third hokage? Kakashi? Fucking Jiraiya? Yeah right. Boruto thinks a few hours of working on a high level jutsu is too intense so he goes and cheats with technology rather than innate ability. The amount of time Naruto spends in his early mangas trying to use chakra regularly just laughs Boruto off the stage. I hate his character. The only redeeming point I’ve found for him is that he loves his sister and probably his mom even if she says barely two words.

Which brings me to my next point: Naruto deserves a fucking family. I didn’t want to pick this up and see a middle aged man who doesn’t go home every day to see his family, a family that seems too forced together. I’ll just say this: I do not like that Hinata’s character arcs were stripped away so she could be the perfect ~waifu~ for the main character. Same with Sakura. I know from spoilers that her and Sasuke’s relationship is a joke as well. Why did these writers take away all of the female empowerment just to have kids with specific combination abilities?

Naruto and Sasuke, the main characters of the previous series, aren’t happy unless they’re flirting together in the dark. Which smells like affair to me, but you can’t argue with me that they were set up to be together if only one had been female. Which, wouldn’t have happened anyway since the females in these mangas keep getting fucking curb stomped.

Sarada! She’s so adorable and much better than that fucking Boruto nightmare kid, but I can’t help but feel she’s going to be a love interest, what with all of the 13 y/old sex appeal (short short skirt, heels...). Which also makes me think about how Naruto and Sasuke were the obvious favorite ship for many creators so now we just get it in a very het and half assed way. Wonderful.

I’m not continuing I HATE that Naruto is ruined. Two stars for the art, which really I’d give five stars for but the story is so abysmal that without the art it’d be a one star.

Boruto is here! Since the beginning he makes things clear: he doesn't want to be a Hokage like Naruto.

The Chunin tests is coming and he needs to participate with his three man cell (Sarada, Mitsuki and Boruto), he also starts to train with Sasuke.

But a new ninja tool is created and Boruto will use it, and it may be dangerous.
