In Heartbreak Bay , the fifth installment in the Stillhouse Lake series, Gwen is helping Kezia find the missing mom of two girls, who were dead in a car found in a submerged pond. Determined to find the killer and the missing mom these two won't stop unless someone stops them first.

A fast moving suspenseful thriller read , it's the last book by Rachel Caine . I’m sorry to see this series come to an end, but it was a fitting conclusion to an impressive series. The author will be dearly missed

I would like to thank Thomas Mercer & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

It's a bittersweet feeling to finish a series, it's also bittersweet knowing the author passed away before the publishing of this final book.

As with all the other books in this series, I loved it. Kezia's point of view in this book added so much more to it, especially in an earlier chapter where it hit me a few times with her emotions toward two baby girls killed in the submerged car. And her need to be there for them because their momma wasn't.

Gwen was amazing as usual, and I love how PTSD is portrayed through her character over the years. She's such a strong woman who wants to protect her family and friends without any damns given.

Sam is an amazing partner and father, having changed so much from who he was at the beginning to now. I appreciate him so much.

Another great book added to the series.
This one didn't keep me guessing as much as the last ones but still a great read. The way Rachel gets into mind warp of these killers keeps me wrapped up in the series. What I have enjoyed most of this series is trying to understand the families serial killers leave behind. How Gwen and the kids have survived the mass of people being so hateful to them. I had truly never understood/thought about this until I started Stillhouse lake. It is such an intresting concept and Rachel did an excellent job of telling another side of the story.
I loved how Kez was more of a front runner in this book, I really like her.
I've truly enjoyed reading Rachel Caine's books, and cannot wait to start the last book in this series. I read that Rachel, has passed and it saddens my heart, I pray for her family to have peace.

This series just keeps getting better and better! Even though I was able to figure this one out pretty quickly, the writing kept me absolutely hooked.

Gwen Proctor is on the trail of another serial killer, and when they turn out to be a threat to all those she loves and cares about, she's going to stop at nothing to bring them down. The choices she makes will decide more than just her own fate because she's teamed up with Detective Kezia Claremont, and the stakes have never been higher.

It's sad to know that there's just one more book left in this series of six that concluded with the passing of Rachel, but it's been an amazing journey and I cannot wait to read Trapper Road.
