The premise is compelling and for the most part it is an enjoyable read despite being very predictable. In recent years I’ve been increasingly drawn to books and shows with kindness at their core, and this book delivers on that front. The religious undertones became more prevalent towards the end. I haven’t read any other books by this author and I didn’t do any homework on her before I read this one, so maybe this is a well known feature of her writing but for me it was a bit of a surprise. She has a soft touch so it wasn’t completely off putting, but it’s just not really my thing.

I enjoyed this book. The ending was predictable, but it was a nice story. While I didn't realize that this book would have religious undertones, I do appreciate that it was subtle and not geared towards Christianity.
