This book has everything you want in a vampire book. Lenore, the heroine, is personable and she has issues and it makes her so real. Solon is sexy and magnetic, smart and a vampire in all the ways you want your anti-hero to be. Karina really sets the scene with her plush, imaginative settings that really set the mood for the story. This story is gritty, kinky, dirty and fun. I want more.

“No matter what, you are mine for the ages.”
I literally do not care that there were a hundred lines of cringe dialogue in here. The vampire lore, worldbuilding, and the chemistry between these two characters is so well written and it's everything I ever wanted in a vampire book.

I loved this story.
I read Black Sunshine during a reading slump and I fell in love, quickly. I practically devoured this book. It really reinvigorated my love for vampire romances.
Absolon absolutely won my heart and it was so refreshing to see the authors take on vampire mythos and the way she weaved other supernatural elements together or create this story. Lenore, while not my favorite MC to exist was still fun to be a long with, just sassy and snappy enough to make me like her.
All in all, Black Sunshine was a fun read with some really cool characters that just worked their way into my heart.

I can't stand the trope where the FMC, who is entirely new to the supernatural world, thinks she knows better that the person who's been living in that world. Then she decides that she needs to do something that's going to be dangerous or harmful. But because she's a Mary Sue she can do it when other, more knowledgeable, people have told her that it's a bad idea. To top it off, the MMC who is a strong leader "alpha-type" always bows to her stupid wishes and the bad things always happen.

Karina Halle is one of my new favorite authors! I wasn't sure where this book was going at first? I have read Blood Orange and it's sequel. So, I know where these characters end up, but I didn't know how they got there.
If you love Dark Academia, touch-her-and-you-die, fated lovers, vampires, tattoos, witches, and characters that spontaneously make you laugh, then this series is for you.

This was actually really good, but once I started something else I didn’t feel the urge to pick it up again.

definitely in my top 10 of 2022 & I'm immediately purchasing the sequel. vampires are my absolute favorite & this storyline was so well done in my opinion. yes there were several cringey/overly cheesy lines, but they were balanced out by really good/cute lines about the struggles of uncontrollable darkness within you. the steamy scenes were great, the chemistry radiated off those pages, and I'm so sad there are only two books. obsessed is an understatement.

I want more of this world and am so glad it’s getting another book! It’s steamy and has vampires and even though it’s in modern time (I typically love reading fantasy) I was enamored by this book and the quotes/descriptions? I was ☠️
