Glimpses of beautiful prose and the taste of loneliness and salt but occasionally too loud in its melodrama?
Worth the hype! I asked a friend for a good vacation read, and I was immediately wrapped up into the story and it captured my attention all the way to the end. Beautifully written and an excellent story with great character development. The only reason it’s not 5-stars for me is because it felt a little too wrapped up, a little too easy. I kept bracing myself for the really emotional climax, and that high was lower than I expected.
Honestly, I’m glad I did this book as an audiobook. I have already seen the movie (don’t hate me) so I did know what happened, especially being that the movie followed the book pretty closely.
Overall, I really like this story. Good commentary on judging others and discrimination. I also appreciate the ending very much.

I really didn’t expect to like this book, much less love it, but 10/10 from start to finish. The audiobook’s accent also adds a lot.
