This is me happily strolling back into the continuation of the Bleach universe.
My soul NEEDS this series to tie up the loose ends from the manga and I'm so glad that these light novels are getting translated. I'll admit it did take some serious brain exercises to remember everything that happened during the last arc (and to remember the anime filler arcs that concerned the aristocracy and the soul king) but by the end I felt I had a pretty good handle on what was happening and on where this series is headed. I can feel all the pieces being set and I'm looking forward to how all of the different dimensions and plot lines will converge.
Also, words cannot express how joyful I am that we get a Hisagi centered book series. Like. Tite Kubo is really gonna give me a whole light novel series over the secondary characters that I've been obsessed with for years??? Thanks bb.

P.S.
VIZ PLEASE TRANSLATE THE REST OF THE LIGHT NOVELS I AM BEGGING YOU. I can't continue to live off of half done translations I found on reddit. I NEED the world building and detail

Simply because it touches on the rarely talked about nobility of the Seiretei and its inner workings.

First off, I'd like to say a thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love Bleach, the original manga series. I loved it so much that I remember binge reading it all (well all that was available to me) at around the age of 19. I loved Ichigo Kurosaki, the soul reapers, the Quincies. I loved the world and the story. I loved the anime, too! I loved it all, and I couldn't get enough, up until a point, where I believed the story should of ended. But it continued anyway, and I continued to read it, but I didn't love it as much.

So when I got Bleach: Can't Fear Your Own World, I was super excited, but also super apprehensive. On one hand, I couldn't wait to get back into this world and revisit all my favourite characters, but on the other hand I was left wondering if it would be just as good as the initial set of manga books, rather than the latter.

I opened this one up and was super surprised. It was a light novel? I was expecting a Manga, anyway I persevered, but things didn't get much better for me, unfortunately.

It was great getting back into the world and hearing about the characters, I just couldn't get into the flow of reading it in a novel format, I didn't like it. That's my issue though, I'm sure many other people would love it told in this way as it is more detailed. The story was well written and easy to follow, but my heart just wasn't in it, and I unfortunately had to put it down.

Not for me, but I still love the characters and would still recommend this to fans of Bleach. Maybe I'll try it again one day. But for now, an average rating.

So much Bleach news this year.

I preordered this book as soon as I heard of its existence. Like everyone else, I thought it was a manga, but I was surprised to find out it was a novel.

I loved this book. Not only because it's continuing one of my favorite stories, but it was told from the perspective of one of my favorite anime crushes: Shuhei Hisagi. Although this had way more politics than I usually like and there are almost no action scenes, I loved seeing life in the Soul Society continue on after the devastating battle with the Quincies. We even got more scenes in Hueco Mundo which was exciting. I enjoyed the direction this went, and I can't wait to continue.

Also, I'm stocked to hear about the anime being revived in 2021. I'm hoping beyond all hope this isn't a rumor. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
