Politically/philosophically I did not agree with the author. I enjoyed a different perspective on things but longed for less anecdotes and more references to support the claims.

There is a lot in this book. The author takes a lot of hard stands. More important than a line by line critique is an assessment of the overall theme: as a dad you have tremendous influence on your daughters, so use that to help them through life. Most of it comes down to just spending time and letter her know that you love her.

While this book is intended for fathers I found the information informative for mothers as well. Much of it is applicable for sons or daughters. I appreciated the author's Christian point of view.

This fairly short book took a long time to read. I'm generally not much of a non-fiction reader and I find that self-improvement books are often a slog no matter how interested I am in the subject matter.

It's written from a conservative, thinly-veiled Christian perspective so I wouldn't recommend it to left-leaning, atheists who would just end up irritated. However, I think there are some good themes that any father can pull out of this book - spend time with your daughter, fight for her, protect her. It's easy for us fathers to lose sight of the big picture and get caught up in the day-to-day grind. I appreciated the affirmation that I'm important to my daughter and the reminder to stay engaged.

I think however, like a number of other self-improvement books I've read, the message could have been just as effective in a long essay rather than a book.

This is a great book for dads and moms both to read. I do think the author lays it on thick for dads (clearly showing she knows men!).
There is a lot to be learned in reading this book.
