Thorn is book 1 in the Rosewood High Series and is Jake and Amalie's story. It is an enemies to lovers, high school bully new adult romance with mature content

I really enjoyed this story, it was captivating, fast paced, well written and I found myself not wanting to put it down. It was full of angst and a few heart wrenching, raw and real moments as well as some sweet ones

Jake - I'll start off by saying Jake began as a unlikable character (purposely of course). He was the king of the high school and cold, distant, arrogant, the way he spoke about females was demeaning and degrading and his hatred for Amalie didn't seem justifiable to begin with but as the story progressed and he slowly let down his walls and the more you got to know him and his back story and where his animosity stems from you start to understand his pain and will surely fall in love with him like i did. I loved watching his character grow and seeing him realise that maybe he was wrong to think and feel the way he did about certain situations at the beginning

Amalie - she was such a strong and beautiful character. I loved everything about her. Here she is in a new country at a new school after loosing both her parents in a horrible accident and being tormented by the schools hot shot popular athlete for reasons she does not know. I like how she stood her ground and pushed back each time she was pushed even though she couldn't help but be drawn to the schools bad boy Jake

I was also super intrigued by the side characters and can not wait for Paine Book 2 in this series.
This was the first book I've read by Tracy and can't wait to read some more

Did I hate it? No .
Did I like it? Eh .

At first it was a nice easy-flowing book, which wasn’t something I’d usually read but it was easy to read.

However, the further I got into the book it got better and it seemed to be more interesting.

It wasn’t until around seventy-five percent when everything seemed to be happening too quickly. It felt like all of the problems within the book were solved too quickly and there were a lot of loose ends. I think there could’ve been a much better ending.

I think this book could’ve been made more interesting and more like a bully romance. I just don’t think this book was for me - I didn’t click with it.

I enjoyed the read. Love an anti-hero. There was chemistry and fire and fighting. A good bully romance which will now prompt me to read the series.

It wasn't a really bad book but it wasn't the best. His anger issues were just a bit much for me and I didn't think they had much of a connection.

I have not figured out why I am drawn so much to this genre, but drawn I am! Ms. Lorraine has done a very nice job. The male hero is flawed and dangerous, and I just loved him! When an author draws out emotions from me, whether anger, warmth, happiness, sadness, anxiety for the characters; they've done their job in my book (well, really their books, LOL)! Ms. Lorraine accomplished this! If you enjoy this genre, this is worth reading!

4.5 stars.

I liked this book! I e had a run of bad bully books recently, but this isn’t one of them!
Jake is a great, complex character and his hate is palpable.
I loved how strong Amalie is, standing up to Jake.
Their group of friends are fantastic as well and i can’t wait to read book 2!
There are a few continuity issues, and I really disliked Amalie at the end, but she redeemed herself, thankfully.
If bully romances are your thing, this is a great one!

Important: this is a bully romance if you are not into this don't read or don't fucking complain.

I'm not so sure about giving this book 4 or 3.5 stars.

1) cause Jake was a real pain in the ass at the first chapters, and that wouldn't be *that* bad with a good reason behind, but I felt like his "reason" to hate Amalie was just not enough.

The good thing it's the more you read the more you empathize with him and connect to his feelings. But for that, you need to keep reading and that might be a problem if you don't like or understand Jake and give up on him too soon.

2) Because of the final thing with Amalie and her phone?? I don't think it was really necessary but I'm glad it didn't end in a big drama

Despite those things, I enjoyed this book so much after the first 30% Jake is so freaking cute I think it's impossible to not fall for him.
It's a good enemies to lovers high school book. A fast reading. A cute couple. Jake and his life story are definitely gonna catch you if you give this a chance.

Honorable mention: When I was about to drop this book, I continue bc of Mason, BEST friend ever. I'm dying for his book with Camila.
