.... As you start reading you wonder where this is going? You wonder what is the point of the story? You wonder if you should put the book down and just try to figure out what case this is so you can know the ending. That's where I ended up. The story goes on and on in some parts and jumps way ahead in others. ......

"One, that's not my dog. Two, if it was my dog, he didn't bite you. Three, if my dog bit you, it didn't hurt you. And four, if my dog bit you and hurt you, you provoked him."

the contents of this book is crazy heavy. it's likely why it's taken me a little longer to read, because i didn't want to rush it.

the writing is brilliant. i loved it. but going through the book was difficult for me. this isn't only a recounting of a specific rape case, but it's also about family and relationships as well as erika's own story about her assault. i find the switch between to be well-done. it didn't seem out of place and flowed well.

"My mother, you will die, and I will not come."

i am incredibly passionate about feminism and women's rights (to be SEEN as human, as people) and i know about the horrors of literally just being a woman. i am one myself. i don't know how many recountings i have read/listened to about sexual assault and violence against women, but it will never get easier. and i hope it doesn't.

i don't think i really a point here with this review but, truthfully, i don't really know what do say. maybe one day we'll get proper justice. i hope we do. maybe i won't be alive for it, but honest to god, i hope it happens.

"Wade Riggs should be gone. Gone, gone, gone. The fact that he isn't is a very loud message."
