This book is a true fantastical pirate adventure, complete with sea creatures, an undead curse, and battles. It was nice to see more of Sorinda and Kearan in this story, though their love/chemistry felt a bit rushed. The actual plot was really interesting and kept me on my toes, with some room at the end of the book for another story potentially, though this one wrapped up nicely. I really enjoyed reading Sorinda as a flawed yet lovable character and seeing how she grappled with being a captain of a ship and also dealt with her past mistakes/guilt. She had some definite growth throughout this book though I wanted a little more substance in telling that growth story since her backstory and personality were so complex and intriguing. Overall, another great YA pirate story from this author!

This book we follow Alosa Assassin- Sorinda who is sent on a deadly mission of rescuing others, while her sailing master is none other than the infuriating Kearan.
As Sorinda is the captain its a new way when she's the focus after all the years of being in the shadow, that it's something Sorinda needs to work on, while sailing the treacherous waters, they come across an island where Sorinda accidentally awaken the King of the Undersea, who summons an army of the undead soldiers from the depth, Sorinda along with Kearan and her crew have to fight to survive.
But Sorinda has to face some old memories which reveal more about why Sorinda is the way she is, but along the way Kearan is the one who seems to bring her out of her shadows, and Sorinda finally starts to relies how she feels about him, but is it too late, when Sorinda faces a fate worse than death, which is becoming an undead queen controlled by the king himself, or can she take back the control and defeat this undead king.
I would call this book a more of a novella as it's not focused on Alosa even though she is in the story, this is focusing on member of her crew and their story, one of trauma, sadness, adventure and finding oneself. There are so many moments that had me holding my breath and others where I was laughing, everything was well written and easy to follow, while being fully packed with lots going on to pull me in, I definitely recommend this series to others.

From the first chapter I was HOOKED! Vengeance is the name of the ship and that is exactly what Sorinda is after, you will find all the best in this book…murder, stowaways, and secrets of the deep.
