I’d say her internal dialogue in regards to her growth was a little on the nose. And this girl still had no flaws, she just beats herself up. Which I can get behind. Better than the girl that never does anything wrong ever. Idk it all felt a little too mechanical, but maybe that’s just me. I thought I’d relate to her more because I hate showing emotion (and my man unlocked that from me a little) and like to be unseen, but I just couldn’t establish a good connection to her.

Also as much as I keep trying I can’t picture Kearan as anything other than a dwarf 😅

I had so much fun with the relationship and how the character arcs unraveled. I thought the magic aspect did fit with the world enough but it was also A Lot, still fun. Such a fun cast of characters thought, just really fun to read.

This was a fun pirate romance book! I was expecting more of a *continuation* of the series, but this story feels more like a spinoff with a different MC perspective.

Overview:
•YA Fantasy Romance
•Assassin Captain FMC x Helmsman MMC
•Pirate rescue mission
•Flirting with knives
•Dangerous monsters
•Healing from trauma

I liked the first book of this series, but I LOVED the second book! So I was excited to read the third. I did not know we would switch to Sorinda’s perspective the whole book, so while I did love her character and her arc, I missed Alosa and Riden.

But I really did love allllll of the characters in this book! Roslyn - the 7 year old wanna-be assassin - of course has a special spot in my heart.

The plot moved along at a decent pace, but it felt disjointed at times. I do feel like the second half was more cohesive!

The romance was very slow burning, but I enjoyed watching Sorinda peel back her understandably armored layers. It also felt very appropriate for the YA designation.

Overall, this was an enjoyable adventure romance, and I recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed the series so far!
