Carol

Patricia Highsmith

3.96 AVERAGE

While it was certainly groundbreaking at the time of publication, 'The Price of Salt' suffers from a boring and immature main character as well as a meandering plot. The relationship between Therese and Carol lacks anything to entice the reader into caring about what happens to them. Though Highsmith brings back some of her thriller roots in the second half of the novel, it is too little, too late.
