The beginning was a bit boring and I wanted to skip the first 100 pages but I'm really sad/happy right now. It's the first book, I have read, about two women in love with a happy ending. Sometimes Therese annoyed me but it didn't stop me from continuing reading it. I don't regret.
I loved this book. I'm still crying after the last chapter which was beautiful. The book and the film are different, but both perfect. I honestly can't choose which I love more. I sold my soul to both of them.

Finally read this! I wanted to rewatch the movie so figured it was a good time. Kind of depressing but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would

My First Sapphic Story™️

4/5: Lovely love story. At first I wasn’t convinced because the first part was really drawn out and because I didn’t care for the weird hot-and-cold dynamic between There and Carol. Part 2 was much more enjoyable to me. Many of the little details that until then seemed repetitive or inconsequential were finally given meaning in my eye. We also finally see the love story bloom and unexpected character development that made me grow fond of both women. I really feel grateful to the many people who recommended it to me. I am usually one for gloomy stories, but I really think I can get used to this flavour of sweetness.

Ps. Very excited to watch the on-screen adaptation Carol (2015)!

very strange to read a Highsmith novel with no murder in it, but she writes such wonderfully neurotic POV characters and her prose just goes down so smooth.
