Lovely read, and surely something everyone should read at least once if not for the sole purpose of it being a book that paved the way for sapphic literature.
As good as the movie, if not a bit less boring since you get to know why Therese did what she did.

A classic within sapphic literature, often deemed as the first sapphic love story with a happy ending. However, the romance felt a bit weird to me?? There seems to be a power imbalance between the two women, which is not touched upon or criticised further within the book. Also, I understand this book has a tremendously happier ending than the queer literature before, but the price one of the women has to pay for the romance is still pretty substantial in my opinion

Definitely an interesting read — especially if you're interested in queer/sapphic literature and its history — but I would not recommend it if you're just looking for a wlw love story
