A historic fiction book that leaves you touched and reflective.
The book is a sapphic fantasy of every reader a clear and beautiful romance driven by remarkable prose. The plot feels current and tangible which makes the read much more hurtful and real. While the book is fiction, its deep roots in reality and the uncertainty of the Lesbians within the society at that moment are very clear. The panic and nervousness are clearly conveyed without losing the passion and attraction of other star-crossed lovers' tropes.
The characters are rich and complex, which leaves you broken and in pieces once you read the last page. Longing for one last talk or a couple more seconds in their world.
The prose is more focused on an atmospheric description, which leads to heavier descriptions than in other books (which isn't my cup of tea).
Nevertheless, this reminds you of how great a book can be when the author properly ground a plot and builds their characters, in an enveloping love story that will remain for the ages.

this is a nice book about a queer romance, but i found it a little too relaxing, as if the stakes didn’t feel high enough for me. this kind of affected how much i cared about carol and therese, but at the same time i definitely still rooted for them. overall worth reading :) nice to read a book about queer ppl where the ending is actually uplifting and not horribly depressing
