Oh, this book. Achingly beautiful.

I loved the movie adaptation as well, but there's just something so profoundly touching about reading this story as a queer woman and remembering your first crushes, remembering loving unattainable women in this soft and distant yet all-consuming way. The pacing could be a bit swifter, that's true, but even that ties into the weightless atmosphere and beautiful style, so I didn't mind it much.

I honestly wasn’t too sure about this one just based on Carol and Theres’s personalities not being my favorite, but by the end of the book I fell in love with them and their relationship.

It's been a long time since I was this drawn into a story and its characters. Finished this in a white heat over the course of a day.

This was such a journey
