Overall I really liked it? I had some complicated feelings about it though. Vague spoilersWhen it came to ART and Murderbot's relationship, I had some conflicted feelings. I think I liked what they had going on in book two. They are not humans and I don't think their relation needs to or should necessarily be forced into the box of human relationship terms. It wasn't just the conversation about "having a baby" that felt like this, I got the impression from the way the relationship was discussed and talked about later that the author was trying to force this relationship to fit the box of 'romantic relationship', and that really bothered me. I think both the characters are interesting but any sort of traditional "romantic" relationship seems really questionable to me, and I think I liked it better when their relationship was allowed to be it's own thing. It a little bit made me feel like someone somewhere felt like a longer book needed to have some sort of romantic-adjacent conflict in it for it to be a longer book and that is absolutely not true? I think Murderbot books were plenty fulfilling without people trying Marry it with ART. I don't know if this really adequately explains the disfatisfaction I was feeling, but I sure have tried, so hopefully this made some sort of sense. ANYWAYS still lots of good fun parts, and I enjoyed it a lot and read it in one sitting and all, but uh, yeah. I have complicated and not altogether pleased feelings. Sigh.
