This, and I do not say this lightly, is perhaps the most beautiful book I’ve ever read. MacFarlane’s writing is all-consuming, wholly evocative, and made me feel a deep sense of peace and warmth unlike anything I’ve read before. A book you will want to take your time with. It’s unsettling, encouraging, yearning, enraging—it will make you question everything we have ever done to nature.

I can’t possibly wrap up everything I feel about this book in one review. Gorgeous, heartbreaking, one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Nature… powerful before humans and in spite of humans.

The struggle of this book is trying to realize who the intended audience is… the vocabulary is for the highly educated; however, much of it reaches in to touch the heart of spirit of those who care deeply for the world we live in. Highly recommend reading an e-version so you can tap for definitions/explanations.
