You know I honestly think I kind of shot myself in the foot with this book. Because it took me a while to really get into it because I was trying to read it at the same time as another book, which made it harder for me to get immersed. It took me a while to figure out who each character was, what they were doing, and where the plot was going. This book has a glossary at the back and there is a REASON. Because so much language and terms and lore will just be casually discussed and if you don’t flip to that glossary you will be lost. However despite my struggles to really get invested, once I did I was IN IT. The action is super engaging and thrilling to read, the magic of this world is very interesting and while not used often, piecing together the hints of it and figuring it out was one of the more interesting parts of the book. There were some crazy jaw dropping “WHAT” moments that happened, especially at the end of the book, and while I was considering putting this series on hold for the time being, the back half of the book convinced me to go ahead and read the second and third after. So overall, a good Epic Fantasy based on Norse Mythology with intense action, high stakes, and interesting characters to follow (mostly). I can’t wait to see how this story shapes up in the next one.
