Okay I wrote a REALLY LONG REVIEW AND ACCIDENTALLY DELETED IT. Basically:
  • The more I think about this book the more I liked it - I appreciate the length of time it takes Amelia to reveal her personality and trust Cam enough to rely on him.
  • Cam has everything a Kleypas hero should! I love how determined he is to care for Amelia and help her family.
  • Not clear to me how much research Kleypas actually did into Romany culture at this time and I will say Merripen's role in the Hathaway family makes me feel WEIRD.
  • The haunting was so unexpected and genuinely moving??
  • The sex was PERFECT.
  • I look forward to the rest of the series but be warned this book deals with some dark themes!

I really loved this one! It was so sweet and lovely and I honestly loved Amelia and Cam together. I’ve also discovered I really enjoy the trope of “strong independent woman holds the world upon her shoulders and man who just wants to shower her with love and support and carry her burdens” it’s a solid trope. Cam just desperately wanted to take care of Amelia and her family and I loved that about him.
