I struggled to read this book at the start; I was confused about the plot and the characters. However, once the narration shifted to Agnes, I was really able to connect to her and how she perceives her mother. Overall, the exploration of mother-daughter relationship and the future of cities / wilderness were compelling to me.

Brutal and interesting exploration of how, if needed, some of us could return to living with the land. Assuming it's based on indigenous communities and their experiences which makes for a depressing read at times.

DNF at 30 pages. I found the writing to be too formal? Descriptive? Detailed? For my taste. I really liked the concept of the novel, but unfortunately couldn’t connect with the book due to the style of writing being challenging for me.

One of those books from which many scenes and many emotions will always remain with you.
An excellent mother-daughter relationship analysis in fiction.
Raw, vibrant, memorable.
But also longer than needed in my opinion. There were parts that could be edited out to boost the impact.
