I have so many feelings about this book but no words for them. The way the relationship between Bea and Agnes was written was beautiful.

A group of volunteers are sent into the last wildlife reserve to live a nomadic lifestyle (that’s still highly regulated by the government) off the land to study the sustainability of that lifestyle and patterns of human behavior. All this told through the tumultuous relationship of a child raised in that wilderness and a mother who gave up her whole life (perhaps regrettably) for that child.
There was an extreme focus and reverence for nature and the land in this book. So much so that it probably could have been 100 pages shorter and focused more on building out the meager plot. It was an interesting examination of human behavior, both group dynamics and mother-daughter relationships. But it was also kinda boring.
