A very interesting but different take on time travel. Maggie and Alex meet in Scotland while on vacation, coincidentally they both happen to be from the same city. Maggie and Alex seem to hit it off instantly and when Alex say's that he wishes they had more time they both find them selves being shoved through a time portal to the past. Almost immediately they are found by the clans men of Clan MacKendimen, a clan that Alex would have been heir to had his father not moved to America, and Alex seems to bear the image of the clan heads son Alesander. Problems seem to pop up imedietaly as Alex is mistaken for Alesander and Maggie is though to be his mistress(ok that's being polite, in actuality they call her his whore), there is also the matter of Alesander's fiance whom everyone expects him(Alex) to marry straight away. While Alex takes up the role of clan heir, Maggie is sent to work in the kitchens and must do her best to avoid contact with Anice, Alesanders jealous fiance.

Overall this story is rather clever and I truly enjoyed it. There were a few set backs that kept me from giving this 5 stars however. One is how easily Alex seems to step into the role of clan heir, it goes off without so much as a hitch unless you count his difficulty in training. Anice is a hard person to like but at the same time you don't dislike her, after what is referred to as her 'anger outburst' I'm truly stunned that Alex didn't spank her at the very least, instead he gives her a yelling and that's that. The rate at which Maggie seemed to recover and that she did so well was rather astounding to me, then again at the end of the book it states that they had been with the clan for months but I hadn't felt that that much time had past.

4 stars for this book!

I read this years ago and thought it was 'ok'. If I remember correctly the H and h spent quite some time apart and, for me, that caused a lack of chemistry. Because of this I never followed up with the other books in the series, ONCE FORBIDDEN and A MATTER OF TIME.

Honestly, the Jove Time Passage series books are a hit or miss with me. I have found most are middle of the road or ok at best. One exception? Judie Aitken's A LOVE BEYOND TIME was exceptional. I enjoy a good time travel romance and will give the others a go at a later date.
