I really enjoy this whole series. They’re well-written, engaging, and hold my interest. I get attached to the characters. Great author!
I really love this series. Sophie, the FMC, is spunky and fun. She's into tattoos, vampires, and drawing. Sikthand, the MMC, is brooding and traumatized by a history of assassination attempts often by those he trusts the most. The characters are highly developed and the descriptions of the city detailed. I find that I can picture so many of the locations.
The only down side of this book is that it isn't available as an audiobook yet.

Spectacular. Amazing. Beautiful. I need the next one!
"Sikthand hadn’t watched her. Suspended in time, he’d beheld her. A goddess carved from the moon itself. Even if she left tomorrow and he never saw her face again, that vision of her would live with him until the day he joined the sky."
Sikthand... oh my king. You may have joined my favorite alien boyfriends. He is SOMETHING ELSE.
Sophie handles being abducted really well. She knows as a human she has value and she's safe, and she slowly comes to have feelings for her would-be enemy the king. Only problem is...
Sikthand has had a hard go of it, and rightfully so, he's a little... paranoid. He's also a little stalker with a side of voyeur and I love it. He realllllly wants to fall for Sophie but he doesn't trust that she's not out to unalive him. But as their relationship slowly changes, the BANTER and the push and pull and denying feelings and giving into urges is just SO delicious.
A wicked smile lifted the corner of Sikthand’s mouth, exposing one of his sharp fangs. She sucked a slow breath, lips parting. “Find me majestic, do you?”
At times I couldn't decide if I loved their hate banter or if I wish they'd just f*ck already.
“Have you mistaken my curiosity to fuck an alien as genuine interest?”
“This is a temporary fascination, human,” he hissed. “You are but a Season. Calamitous, powerful, consuming. But like the rains, you too will pass.” He dropped her chin and straightened to his full height, towering over her, not revealing the crippling ache constricting his stomach. “I need only weather you.”
Sophie's tenacity and strength are at the front of this story. It's easy to only focus on Sikthand and his journey because he's 10/10 delicious but he wouldn't be at odds with his entire life if it wasn't for Sophie. She brings a softness out of him, and she brings a perspective of his kingdom he needed. She fits right into his life and his heart and I freaking loved that's she's a tattooed LARPer. What a babe.
Sikthand slowly falling in love with Sophie means this is the slow burn to end all slow burns. But I was patient because I knew it was going to be GOOD and we were rewarded. If I could only be so lucky to have aliens come get me and deliver me into the hands of a well trained Clecanian male. :)
Did I mention the dude has a VIBRATING TAIL? Sigh.
As with the other Clecanian books, we have political intrigue and threats and some really fun adventure, but at the heart it's a romance between two people that can't resist each other in the end.
"He couldn’t fight anymore. She was inevitable. If he’d ever had any power, it was hers now. He was hers now."
All the stars. When do we get the next one?
