5⭐️ “My life has been wrought. Each day is filled with dread and suspicion and fixation. She brings me silence. The clouds aren’t so heavy when she’s near.” Did I tear up at the end? Absolutely! This book was soooo good because it isn’t an empty romance. I love a romance thats just romantic and thats it, but this touched on the effects of insecurity, anxiety, and paranoia that comes with betrayal. It was, in this case, a person literally trying to end the kings life, but more than the murder attempt, betrayal is what makes him paranoid and I love that internal battle he went through to allow himself to let her close. I also like that it went through the steps she had to take to get close to him. Even though this is a book about aliens, it his soooo relatable. The world building in this book is pretty good in terms of political power structures.
