This was a spicy book. I liked Cherry. She's self confident and giving. I love her relationship with her sister.  Ruben may have been royal and rich, however, Cherry had the better life. I enjoyed their one night stand turned engagement.

not all of talia hibbert’s books are hits for me, but they’re sure never misses. this one falls into the same camp of some of her other early published novels where there is a Big External Conflict towards the end that is honestly kinda dark (and also gets wrapped up a little too quickly for how dark it is), and that’s not what i’m looking for in a romance. i much prefer her more recent stuff that doesn’t shy away from dark topics but also keeps most of the conflict within the couple. however i will happily continue to devour everything she has ever written that i can get my hands on because i do just eat this shit up

I see Talia Hibbert, I pick it up. I unfortunately didn't like this as much as her other books, but that's okay! I still had a great time reading this. And you can really tell her writing has evolved!

I felt this was TOO insta lovey. I mean...
getting engaged only after a few months is wild.
I also didn't feel that they had much chemistry at all. Mainly because well they don't really know eachother. The pacing was off and I felt like our characters didn't get a whole lot of mundane scenes together. Which I think definitely would have made their chemistry more convincing!

I do like the talks about domestic/child abuse though. And im glad everyone got a happy ending. Yay therapy!

Not gonna lie I did cry when
it panned to two years later and they had their daughter. Who they named Freya after his mother ♡. Such a precious moment.  Especially with all of Ruben's feelings surrounding children due to his childhood. It definitelyshowed his growth.

Overall I did like this and I would recommend it!

my bullet-point review:
• i wasnt sure if i would like this story based on the introduction to our lead woman character but as i got to know cherry and ruben i knew this would be such an enjoyable read for me

• the sexual tension in this book is very high. i had no idea that this book would have smut and so many moments where they are intimate in some way.

• this was a rare occasion where i loved all of the main/side characters that we read about consistently throughout the story.

• the chemistry that cherry and ruben have makes me SWOON. the way they can't help but to let their gaurds down around each other is that classic romcom feel that i've been needing. they bring the best out of each other over the time we spend with them in this book. as ridiculous as the plot is, this makes it all seem more realistic.

• i have such a love/hate relationship with the pacing and writing style of this book. on one hand, i loved that it was straight to the point and doesn’t prolong for the sake of hitting a word count. i just wanted a bit more of a slow burn when it came to their feelings developing for each other. it feels like 2-3 weeks passed and they were already in love. i was also unsure of how much time they had spent together because there’s no real mention of how much time had passed beyond the day they met each other.

Loved this one, easy to follow when doing dishes (or other household necessities) but also nuanced enough to not feel contrived or boring. Main couple is lovely and I couldn’t help but root for them. A little bit of love at first sight, which normally I don’t care for but this one is done well and the relationship development is continued past it. The way the story is developed is enjoyable. Everything felt fairly natural and flowed nicely. Text conversations were rough to listen to, but I think they’d be good in the print version.

I loved this book, and Hibbert is one of my favorite authors/writers. I liked the plot (as I am a sucker for a good fake dating) and the characters were fun.
