I was in need of an enjoyable light read and this book definitely delivered. Cherry's personality was by far the most enjoyable part for me and Talia Hibbert's writing style reads very easy. Might actually reread it someday

When Cherry is sent by her coworkers to scope out the handsome man who’s appeared in their office building, she certainly isn’t expecting a Scandinavian prince (although, she only comes to know this later, and it’s a rude awakening).  Whip-smart and gorgeous, Cherry is a fat Black British woman with a tight-knit family and a dead-end job.  She immediately captures the attention of Ruben, a bisexual Dane scarred from childhood abuse and a recent betrayal-turned-scandal.  Fast forward to an alleyway tryst broken up by paparazzi, and Cherry finds herself in a fake engagement with a non-disclosure agreement.  This whirlwind romance has an enemies-to-lovers, forced-proximity feel and features light domination play—these faux fiancés have to fall in love and save the day somehow!  The audiobook is a lot of fun with accents galore.

The first half was a hilarious sexy romance (I cannot get enough of Talia Hibbers lover interests simping over their women), while the second half developed the romantic relationship while also dealing with several serious topics. I really enjoyed the backstory of Ruben, Cherry was amazing (I can only admire the way she was able to stand up for herself throughout the whole book) and the whole book was just what I needed this week.
Talia Hibbert is quickly becoming my favorite romance author.

The Princess Trap was my 5th Hibbert romance, and I am in love! 4.5/5⭐️. Some thoughts:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It took almost no time for me to fall hard for this book! It’s hot and swoony from the get-go. It has some of my favorite tropes, especially fake engagement and forced proximity!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Both Ruben and Cherry are delightful protagonists. They’re both strong and confident and complex. Cherry and I share a birthday, and I’m loving the Capricorn rep! ♑️ I found her relatable in some ways, inspiring in others. Needless to say, I was invested in her journey. And Ruben! He's the perfect combination of dominant and kind.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This one is 🌶, folks! I feel like Hibbert’s books are a little spicier than most romcoms. I had no issues with it, but I like to warn people when they go into it anyway. I also loved how the steam in this one was so obviously tailored to the MCs and their needs. It’s a testament to Hibbert’s strong writing that no two of her books have similar sex scenes. She’s very good at writing sex scenes that make sense for the characters as opposed to more generic stuff.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I did think the ending felt a bit rushed. There were certain subplots I wanted to see fleshed out more, and I wish this had been a tiny bit longer (it’s just under 300 pages). But the main romantic plot is impeccably done, so I almost don’t care.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also loved the body positivity in this one! Cherry is described as big and curvy, and I love that her beauty is never in question. Hibbert is one of the few authors in romance to recognize that beauty and fatness are not mutually exclusive, and I adore her for it. And that COVER? I can’t say how much it means to me to see a full-figured woman on the cover of a romance novel.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m going to be recommending this one for a very long time!

I’ve yet to read a book by Hibbert with a protagonist I didn’t like. Cherry is bold and clever and fun, and I liked her from the beginning. My issue was with the love interest, Ruben, who seemed like a decent guy but inexplicably rubbed me the wrong way. I also wasn’t a big fan of the sex scenes, as he wanted Cherry to submit to him and do as he said. Maybe that’s a form of BDSM? I’m not familiar with any of it. I respect people involved in it, but it’s definitely not my cup of tea. Additionally, it was kind of disappointing to see my two other favorite characters shoved to the back burner in favor of Cherry and Ruben’s romance. Extra half star given because the bonus epilogue—which is available to subscribers of Talia’s online newsletter—was rather cute.
