The Princess Trap is a quick spicy read.  It took me a little while to get into this story, it was a slow start for me. I wish that Cherry and Ruben spent a little more time together and getting to know each other and build up that connection. Despite that I will say this book is hot! I’d recommend it for fans of fake engagements and royal romances.

When Cherry is sent by her coworkers to scope out the handsome man who’s appeared in their office building, she certainly isn’t expecting a Scandinavian prince (although, she only comes to know this later, and it’s a rude awakening).  Whip-smart and gorgeous, Cherry is a fat Black British woman with a tight-knit family and a dead-end job.  She immediately captures the attention of Ruben, a bisexual Dane scarred from childhood abuse and a recent betrayal-turned-scandal.  Fast forward to an alleyway tryst broken up by paparazzi, and Cherry finds herself in a fake engagement with a non-disclosure agreement.  This whirlwind romance has an enemies-to-lovers, forced-proximity feel and features light domination play—these faux fiancés have to fall in love and save the day somehow!  The audiobook is a lot of fun with accents galore.

I immediately started this after finishing the brown sisters trilogy aaaaaand was rather disappointed. One thing I will say is that Talia Hibbert is really good at creating characters and making them realistic and making them have their own distinct voices. But I really didn’t care for the male MC and therefore I didn’t like the romance between him and cherry. I did like the first couple of chapters. But after the paparazzi incident it kinda went down hill for me.
