I immediately started this after finishing the brown sisters trilogy aaaaaand was rather disappointed. One thing I will say is that Talia Hibbert is really good at creating characters and making them realistic and making them have their own distinct voices. But I really didn’t care for the male MC and therefore I didn’t like the romance between him and cherry. I did like the first couple of chapters. But after the paparazzi incident it kinda went down hill for me.

This book was such a romp, and I couldn't put it down! I must've listened to it almost non-stop all weekend. The narrator was fantastic and I think made me love Reuben even more as a character than if I had read him on a page on my own. Cherry is delightful and, honestly, goals. Both of them are the kind of characters who've never met a problem they can't charm their way out of and they've both met their match in each other. When it came to each other and the "This is not happening" between them, they both had spines of jelly and it was steamy, spicy, and glorious!! Reuben knows his way around a body, and Cherry knew how to make him bring his A game.

The supporting cast was wonderful too! Everyone needs a Hans and Demetria, and Reuben's adorable grandmother.

I listened to this as an audiobook, and it just made me devour the book even faster. Loved the characters, the steamy parts, the tropes, but most of all I loved the journey. I was so invested in these characters: their lives, their loves, and their safety. I would recommend any book by Hibbert but this one is my favourite so far.

Please note that the MC is a curvy black woman described as having a SOFT belly and WIDE hips who wears a silk scarf to bed and wears her hair natural. I literally cried at the first mention of her scarf. Other moments of representation include:
MC's sister with sickle cell (mentioned but not delved into), secondary character who wears a hijab, MC has acne scars and both MC and her LI are bisexual.
It really makes me want the next book in the series STAT!
